Overview
Group Finance Manager at Debenhams Group – join our in-house Finance team. We are transforming our brand, culture, and connection with colleagues and customers. Strong financial management and clear commercial insight are critical to driving growth and supporting teams.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and detail-focused Finance Manager. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting at month-end, year-end, and assisting with statutory reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to develop within a fast-paced commercial environment. This role is based in our central Manchester office.
Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements.
* Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and journals completed accurately and on time.
* Oversee the balance sheet and fixed asset register, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of reporting.
* Support the Tax team with VAT and Corporation Tax packs.
* Support international finance stakeholders.
* Partner with the shared service finance team to provide financial support.
* Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis to senior stakeholders.
* Liaise with external auditors, ensuring audit requests are met in a timely and accurate manner.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and reporting systems.
* Daily CEO approvals.
What We Look For
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or finalist with relevant commercial experience.
* Experience in a financial accounting or management accounting role within industry, or a combination of practice and industry.
* Strong knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and UK tax compliance.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
* Prior involvement in statutory reporting and audit processes is desirable.
