Summary Caddick Civil Engineering is part of the Caddick Group and is currently recruiting a Site Setting Out Engineer to join our growing team for a residential project in Sunderland. The ideal candidate will have experience working on civil engineering projects, particularly infrastructure works such as roads, sewers and plotworks. The role would be site-based in Sunderland, supporting the delivery of infrastructure projects typically ranging from £3m to £20m. What You’ll Do Site Setting Out Engineer – Sunderland Set out works in line with project drawings, specifications and design information using robotic total stations and GPS. Check levels, positions and alignments to ensure accuracy across all elements of the project. Work closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently. Maintain accurate site records, including as-built surveys, setting out data and quality assurance documentation. Liaise with subcontractors, designers and the wider site team to ensure clear communication and coordination. Assist with site measurements, material take-offs and tracking progress. Ensure all works comply with technical drawings, client requirements and health and safety standards. Use CAD software and digital tools to support setting out and reporting tasks. What We’re Looking For Skills and Experience Experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civil engineering or groundworks projects. Strong knowledge of site setting out equipment including robotic total stations and GPS systems (e.g. Trimble/Leica). Competent in interpreting technical drawings, specifications and site layouts. Able to use AutoCAD and other digital software to support setting out tasks. Strong attention to detail with a proactive and methodical approach. Confident communicator, able to work with site teams, clients and subcontractors. CSCS card and valid UK driving licence. Qualifications HND/HNC or degree in Civil Engineering or related field/Experience based. SSSTS or SMSTS (preferred but not essential – training can be provided). First Aid at Work (preferred).
