Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Camberley Sewage Treatment Works, GU15 3YL. You will ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team, you will follow robust planned maintenance, get involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates all year round.
Responsibilities
* Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process, including diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment such as pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (e.g., VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks), flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
* Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a true multi-skilled capacity.
* Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
* For those with mechanical or electrical experience only, there is opportunity to develop to dual-skilled status.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
* Ability to work in confined spaces with the appropriate training; physical fitness is required.
* Valid driving licence is essential; vehicle and tools are provided.
Working pattern and benefits
* Working pattern: 38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities can increase earnings.
* Salary up to £45,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
* Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can add up to £8,000–£10,000 per annum after essential training.
* 24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 days with length of service plus bank holidays.
* Contributory pension (Defined Contribution) with up to 12% employer contribution and a 2x employee contribution.
