We are looking to recruit a skilled & passionate engineer to join our championship winning FIA Formula 2 team as Simulation & Development Engineer. Working alongside the Race and Performance Engineers, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the team’s laptime simulation - taking ownership of development and correlation of existing vehicle models. Additionally, this position will involve development of the team’s engineering capability and tools for: pre-event preparation, data and performance analysis; race strategy; reporting etc.Role & ResponsibilitiesOwn and develop the existing F2 vehicle physics modelsPre-event reporting on track sensitivities, initial build specifications & expected performanceCalibration of model parameters and correlation with track dataRefine tools for correlation, data analysis and optimisationCollaborate with trackside engineers to apply the tools and identify improvements to models and processesDevelopment of engineering tools, templates and resources in collaboration with Race and Performance Engineers Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or numerate disciplineExperience with motorsport laptime simulation tools (e.g. ChassisSim, VSM, Canopy etc)Experience developing & implementing mathematical models in a simulation environmentExperience with programming languages (e.g. Matlab, Python, C etc.)Strong understanding of race car systems (suspension, aerodynamics, powertrain, tyres)Desirable:Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, especially Motorsport or Automotive EngineeringProficiency with motorsport data analysis software (e.g. Toolbox, i2, Wintax etc)Expertise in vehicle dynamics and/or tyre modellingExpertise in applied mathematics, ideally in several of the following areas: modelling, optimisation, parallelisation, iterative solvers, non-linear state estimation, or statistics PersonalityWe are looking for someone who:Has a passion for delivering excellence with a high attention to detailIs self-motivated, comfortable working with minimal supervision and can prioritise and manage their own workloadWishes to continually expand their professional knowledgeHas a proactive attitudeTakes a pragmatic and scientific approach to problem solving What We OfferFull-time positionA key role contributing to a front-running F2 teamCompetitive salary & pension contributionFully subsidised gym membershipGenerous annual leave allowanceTime-off-in-lieu after weekend workEncouraging workplace environment with a culture of continual personal developmentPlease include details of your eligibility to work in the UK in your application (e.g. – UK citizenship, UK residency, graduate visa or visa required).This is a readvertised position.
