Design Engineer in Dungannon
Our busy Engineering client in the Dungannon area require a Design Engineer to join their team. The position is a critical hands‑on role responsible for the end‑to‑end design and integration of all components within their product range. This role requires a strong proficiency in SolidWorks for structural and mechanical design, coupled with technical knowledge in off‑grid electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* 3D Modelling: Create detailed 3D models and assemblies of full product range using SolidWorks.
* Engineering Drawings: Generate complete, accurate 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings (including BOMs and cut lists) for production of sheet metal and structural components.
* Design for Manufacture: Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are optimised for cost, ease of assembly, and efficient manufacturing processes.
* System Design: Specify, select, and integrate all electrical and power generation components.
* Power Analysis: Perform power consumption calculations, solar yield assessments, and battery sizing to ensure reliable, continuous off‑grid operation of our units, including an understanding of low voltage (DC) and mains voltage (AC) cabin circuit diagrams.
* Component Sourcing: Evaluate, and specify proprietary components to ensure compatibility with power limits and regulatory standards.
* Standards Adherence: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards for the target markets.
* Documentation: Manage all design files, revisions, and technical documentation within the MRP system.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reliability, durability, and cost‑efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
* Proficiency with SolidWorks for part modelling, assembly creation, and technical drawing generation.
* Strong practical understanding of off‑grid power systems (Solar PV, deep cycle batteries, charge controllers, inverters, generators).
* Knowledge of fabrication techniques for materials such as sheet metal, structural steel, and composite panels.
* Familiarity with standard electrical components, wiring practices, and low‑voltage DC applications.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a focus on integrating multiple engineering disciplines.
Desirable Attributes
* Experience in the design of modular buildings, shelters, vehicles, or enclosures.
* Ability to read, interpret, and create formal electrical schematics/diagrams.
