Health Care Assistant – Night Duty
Job Profile: To provide WAKEFUL night duty cover in relation to the well being of the residents and achieving a high standard of care in a professional manner in accordance with the company policy
Responsibilities and Duties
§ To provide all personal care and attention for each residents and to follow the activities of daily living in accordance with planned care.
§ To ensure residents physical and social needs, comfort and dignity are met.
§ To maintain confidentiality at all times
§ To report any changes in residents physical or psychological condition to the senior or manager and maintain accurate records as required
§ To cover colleagues duties in times of sickness and holidays
§ To undertake induction training and participate in training programmes which may be required either by law or care standers
§ To comply with the regulations in respect of health & safety at work, COSHH, environmental health, fire procedures etc and abide by the homes health and safety policy
§ To undertake light cleaning duties as directed
§ To report promptly all complaints however minor to senior carers or manager
§ To ensure residents are comfortable, remain dry, receive relevant pressure care and are checked on regular checks
§ Assist residents who need it to dress in the morning if required,under no circumstances must a residents be purposely woken in order to get up
§ Your breaks must be taken separately, you must not leave the building during your break as you are paid for it, breaks are 20mins every four hours
§ Maintain privacy and dignity at all times
§ To ensure residents clothing and toiletries are adequate and named and ensure deficiencies are reported to the senior care assistant
§ To abide by the homes quality procedures,policies and work practices and to report and non-comformances in the correct manner.
§ To promote at all times the good name of the home and act in accordance with these aims.
§ To answer outside telephone calls politely and relay messages efficiently
§ To co-operate and maintain good working relationships with all staff
§ To attend meetings as required by the manager
§ To be courteous and polite at all times and to develop good relations with clients, visitors and other professionals both inside and outside the home.
§ To undertake any other duties as may be reasonable requested in order to maintain the smooth running of the home.
§ To shower and shave residents who are up in the morning as and when required
§ To ensure residents are clean and presentable for the day ahead
§ To ensure rooms are left tidy of those who are up early (re-make bed etc)
§ Wheelchairs, chairs etc must be cleaned each night
§ Any laundry must be done in accordance with the instructions on the laundry wall
