Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist – Neuro Rotation

Main area: Occupational Therapy. Grade: Band 7. Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week. Job ref: 162-7302-AV.

Site: Queen's Hospital, Romford. Salary: £53,751 - £60,651 per annum inclusive. Salary period: Yearly. Closing date: 17/09/2025 23:59.

This rotational Band 7 post is a chance to work within our highly specialist teams within Queen’s Hospital Hyper-Acute Stroke unit and our Regional Neurosciences Centre. You will have the opportunity to use high level clinical skills across the Stroke pathway: Hyper-acute stroke unit (HASU), Acute Stroke unit (ASU), Rehabilitation ward (Daisy) and our Early Supported Discharge (ESD) community service.

Within Neurosciences you will experience a wide range of elective and acute conditions across our wards, including acquired brain injury, TBI, neuro-oncology, acute neurology, spinal trauma and spinal cord injury. The post-holder will deliver clinical care, provide team support and help develop the service across acute wards, critical care, elective and community pathways across our sites. Queen’s is a busy new-build hospital situated on the fringes of London with access also into the countryside of Essex. Main duties of the job

* Perform a highly advanced Occupational Therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, provide an accurate clinical diagnosis, and develop and deliver a highly specialised treatment plan.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload and assist and monitor the caseload of your team.
* On rotations, acquire a wide range of clinical skills and experience across acute/sub-acute Stroke, neuro-rehabilitation, and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) community provision. Develop use of specialist cognitive assessments, upper-limb management and splint use, seating, and tone management.

Person specification


Experience/Knowledge

* At least 12 months clinical experience as a Neurological Occupational Therapist
* At least 18 months experience at Band 6 level (or above) or demonstrate significant relevant other experience
* Training of Occupational Therapy students on placements
* Experience in administering organisational policies (e.g., sickness, performance)


Skills/Abilities

* Sound knowledge of relevant stroke, neurosurgical and neurological conditions
* Evidence of developing service provision
