About the Role
A forward-thinking Block Management company is seeking a Heat Network Manager to oversee their communal heat network operations across a growing portfolio of residential developments. The role focuses on delivering efficient, cost-effective, and compliant heating services to residents.
You will be the in-house expert on communal and district heat networks, ensuring systems run smoothly, energy billing is accurate, arrears are minimized, and customer queries are handled professionally. The role involves strategic oversight and collaboration with operations, finance, and external billing partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee energy usage reconciliation and fuel cost management for accurate resident billing
* Manage and reduce heat account arrears through proactive monitoring and engagement
* Coordinate with third-party heat billing providers to ensure high service standards
* Ensure compliance with Ofgem regulations, Heat Trust principles, and UK standards
* Develop operational risk controls and monitoring frameworks for heat systems
* Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical or service issues
* Drive continuous improvements in system efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
* Provide excellent customer service by addressing resident concerns promptly and professionally
About You
Experience
* Proven experience managing communal or district heating systems
* Knowledge of energy billing, debt recovery, and financial reconciliation
* Experience with regulated environments (e.g., Ofgem, Heat Trust)
* Experience working with external contractors and cross-department collaboration
* Background in residential block management, social housing, or building services is a plus
Skills & Knowledge
* Strong technical understanding of heat networks and performance monitoring
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements and billing platforms
* Excellent numeracy and Excel skills
* Ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
