SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Location: Warrington
Contract: Full-Time
Agency: Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support a specialist secondary provision in the Warrington area. Pupils within this setting present with a diverse range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, learning delays, social communication challenges, and complex behavioural or emotional needs. We are seeking someone patient, resilient, and proactive—someone who genuinely wants to improve the learning experience of young people who require extra support.

Role Overview

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams to deliver tailored support that enables students to access learning, build confidence, and develop key life skills. This is a rewarding role suited to someone with a passion for inclusive education and a desire to make a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

* Providing 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with a variety of SEN needs
* Assisting in the delivery of differentiated learning activities
* Implementing strategies from EHCPs and personalised support plans
* Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and engagement
* Using de‑escalation and positive behaviour strategies when required
* Helping create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
* Monitoring student progress and feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO
* Supporting with daily routines and promoting independence
* Assisting during break and lunchtime duties as needed

Requirements

We encourage applications from experienced SEN TAs, mainstream TAs looking to move into SEN, and graduates seeking school‑based experience. You will need:

* Experience supporting children or young people (school, care, SEN or similar)
* Knowledge of SEN such as ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, or behavioural challenges
* Strong behaviour management and communication skills
* A calm, nurturing, and resilient approach
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
* A willingness to support personal care if required (depending on setting)
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
