Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Electrical Engineer to join our Wind Tunnel Operations team at Aston Martin Formula One.
Working at our state-of-the-art Technology Campus in Silverstone, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and continuous development of our world-class wind tunnel facility—directly contributing to the development of our Formula One cars.
As a Wind Tunnel Operations Engineer - Electrical, you’ll take ownership of key technical activities, supporting both day‑to‑day tunnel operation and longer‑term development projects. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role requiring strong electrical engineering expertise combined with problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced motorsport environment.
Please note this role is working on a rotational shift pattern, including early/lates.
Key Responsibilities
* Operating and maintaining the wind tunnel to ensure consistent, high-performance testing.
* Calibrating instrumentation and ensuring measurement accuracy before, during, and after tests.
* Building, operating, and maintaining test rigs and calibration equipment to support development programmes.
* Supporting the design, integration, and evaluation of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
* Contributing to the development and validation of advanced sensors and sensing techniques.
* Analyzing wind tunnel performance data to monitor facility health and drive continuous improvement.
* Maintaining accurate documentation, including test data, procedures, and system records.
* Supporting stock control, spares planning, and inventory management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Experience in electrical or electronic engineering, ideally in a high‑performance or motorsport environment.
* Experience designing or working with wiring harnesses, loom design and electrical assemblies.
* Knowledge of sensor interfaces and signal conditioning systems.
* Hands‑on ability to build, modify, and repair electrical systems to a high standard.
* Experience installing instrumentation and working with test equipment (desirable).
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to diagnose faults under pressure.
* Confident working in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment with tight deadlines.
* A collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
