This role is based on-site at our Lee Mill location near Plymouth, and would require the successful candidate to live within a 60-minute radius of the site due to emergency response responsibilities.



About The Role


In this pivotal role as the Maintenance Manager, you'll have the opportunity to evolve, shape, and grow your department, positioning it for future success. Leading your site and team to achieve operational excellence, you'll be at the forefront of projects, ensuring smooth and safe operations. Your expertise in cost management and safety compliance will be crucial in maintaining efficient operation of all equipment at our Upper Tier COMAH site.


You will lead a team of mechanical and electrical technicians, oversee contractors, and manage the safe system of work, including issuing permits. Your leadership will uphold high safety standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive maintenance success.



Key Responsibilities

* Lead a safety-first operation, aiming for an incident-free workplace, and report on Process Safety Performance Indicators monthly.
* Supervise and allocate work to Maintenance Team and contractors, ensuring safety and specifications are met.
* Plan and oversee daily site maintenance, including safety-critical equipment and fire protection systems.
* Manage the SAP/FSM maintenance scheduling system, ensuring data accuracy.
* Control the maintenance department's budget, manage cost centres, and oversee purchasing.
* Support engineering projects, ensuring modifications and inspections are integrated into operations.
* Participate in audits and incident management, providing technical advice as needed.
* Participate in Emergency Response duties, including occasional out-of-hours on-call support, with response within 60 minutes.


What We’re Looking For

* Full UK Driving License
* Strong leadership skills with a passion for team development and motivation.
* Experience in equipment compliance management.
* Background in engineering, ideally NVQ Level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience on COMAH or high-hazard sites is highly desirable.
* NEBOSH or IOSH Safety Qualification and understanding of health and safety legislation.
* Proficiency in maintenance systems and preventative maintenance regimes.
* Familiarity with hazardous area regulations, electronic control systems, pumps, compressors, pneumatics, pipework, and pressure vessels.
* Strong communication and project management skills, capable of leading in a fast-paced environment.
