Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a Dietitian to deliver a quality, evidence based dietetic service to a defined section of the Nutrition and Dietetic caseload - Paediatrics Inpatients May be required to deliver a service to more complex clinical areas where appropriate. To be responsible for nutrition and dietetic participation in multi-professional groups and contribute to policy making as directed by the lead Dietitian. To work as member of the countywide Nutrition and Dietetic team. RCHT is working towards seven day service delivery and the post holder may be expected to work on weekends and bank holidays Main duties of the job Nutritional assessment of paediatric patients, including consideration of anthropometry, biochemistry, pharmacology and medical history. Nutritional requirements calculated for referred patients in paediatrics. Evidence based nutrition and dietary advice provided, suitable for the paediatric patient's medical, social and cultural needs and their families. Paediatric nutritional care plans monitored and reviewed against outcome measures and re-negotiated as appropriate. Development of educational resources which have a clear evidence-base and are appropriate for the users of the service. Accurate record of all assessments and interventions in line with RCHT policy and Health and Care Professions Council standards. Referrer and other agencies communicated with in writing and/or verbally about patient care. Dietary information provided to staff and patients in a timely and empathetic manner. Assistance provided in the clinical supervision of student Dietitians. Delivery of education for other health care professionals and staff groups. Own time and caseload managed appropriately. Self-directed study managed appropriately. Contribution made at departmental meetings, with outcomes acted upon. Provide support to team with audit and clinical governance projects in line with departmental and multi professional team objectives.
