The Cancer Support Worker (CSW) will work alongside and under the guidance of the Upper GI oncology dietitians and consultant dietitian to provide support, advice, and assessment for patients diagnosed with upper GI cancer throughout their cancer pathway. Often being the first point of contact, the CSW will triage calls, offer advice and support as able, and signpost and refer on as required.
They will actively contribute to developing health and wellbeing interventions and support the oncology dietitians in achieving Service Standards in line with national guidance.
The CSW will serve as a link between oncology dietitians and other healthcare professionals, ensuring referrals and support are organized and prioritized according to need.
