We are looking for talented Planning Assistant to support the delivery of multiple defence projects across a high-profile national programme. In this role, you'll work closely with senior planners, project managers, and stakeholders within the defence infrastructure organisation (DIO) to help drive accurate scheduling, programme assurance, and timely reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their planning career while contributing to critical UK defence infrastructure.
Please note\: This is a Remote position with ad hoc time in Bristol or London and requires SC clearance or eligibility to pass this role.
You'll be responsible for:
* Supporting sub‑programme schedule assurance activities.
* Contributing to high‑level programme reporting and progress monitoring.
* Communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders, and interfacing constructively with project teams.
* Preparing and delivering presentations to senior colleagues.
* Managing administration and document control activities.
* Supporting the defence infrastructure organisation (DIO) in producing petroleum, oil and lubricants (POL) schedule templates for various procurement routes and new processes.
* Attending key programme forums including DIO bi‑weekly meetings, MTA (programme) daily and weekly meetings, risk reviews, and the DP schedule working group.
* Conducting pipeline reviews and providing feedback to DIO and MTA as required.
* Preparing bi‑weekly schedule activity breakdowns for inclusion in bi‑weekly reporting.
* Providing Senior Planning Manager cover during periods of absence.
You'll need to have:
* Experience working within the built environment or construction industry, ideally within planning, scheduling, project controls, or programme delivery.
* SC (Security Check) clearance, or the eligibility to obtain SC clearance. To be eligible, you must generally:
* Have been continuously resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years prior to application.
* Be willing to undergo background checks, including identity, nationality, employment history, immigration status, and unspent criminal records checks.
* Working towards chartered or registered membership of a recognised industry body (APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA) or equivalent.
* A relevant CSCS card.
* General knowledge of schedule management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, Asta, or similar.
* Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills to work effectively within a defence‑related programme environment.
