About DiSSCo
The Distributed System of Scientific Collections UK (DiSSCo UK, https://www.dissco-uk.org/) is a consortium of UK natural science collections, led by the Natural History Museum in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), who are developing a national infrastructure to support the digitisation and use of the UK’s natural science collections to support critical research.
About the role
We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Project Manager to support delivery of the DiSSCo UK digitisation programme across a network of funded partners.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of a major national research initiative, helping to coordinate digitisation projects across multiple organisations and ensuring they operate as a coherent, high‑performing programme. You will manage a portfolio of projects across the Natural History Museum and partner institutions, bringing consistency to delivery, governance and reporting in a complex, multi‑partner environment.
Working closely with funded hubs across the UK, you will support them to establish strong project management practices, monitor progress and performance, and help resolve challenges as they arise. You’ll play a key role in embedding effective governance, risk management and reporting frameworks, ensuring alignment with programme‑level requirements.
You will also help build a connected and collaborative delivery community, through facilitating knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and the adoption of best‑practice digitisation workflows. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to programme communications, stakeholder engagement and national coordination, helping to showcase the impact of this ambitious programme.
This role sits within the Museum’s Digital, Data and Informatics department and offers the opportunity to work across institutions, disciplines and teams to deliver a programme with significant national and scientific impact.
About you
Are you an experienced Project Manager who enjoys working across organisations to deliver complex, high‑impact programmes? If you thrive in collaborative, multi‑stakeholder environments and enjoy bringing structure, clarity and momentum to projects, this could be the role for you.
You bring experience managing portfolios of projects, with strong skills in governance, reporting and risk management. You are confident working in matrix environments, influencing and aligning teams without direct authority, and supporting delivery across organisational boundaries.
You are a clear and confident communicator, able to engage senior stakeholders and specialist teams, and to translate complex information into practical insight and action. You’re comfortable using digital tools to plan, track and report on activity, and you take a proactive, solutions‑focused approach to problem‑solving.
If you are motivated by enabling collaboration, driving continuous improvement and contributing to a programme that supports science and society, you will thrive in this role.
