Course Summary
The Extended Diploma in Architecture and Interior Design, will build on your design and technology experiences and will give you the opportunity to develop, broaden and strengthen your skills, or learn new ones if no previous design experience. You will be encouraged to work on your own initiative, learn to think independently and solve problems with flair; all with the teaching and support of specialist lecturers in our range of well-equipped workshops. In the first year (diploma) you will initially gain a broad knowledge of Design practices and then specialise within a pathway of your choice:

• 2D and 3D design
• Technical drafting

• Materials and colour
In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will makes you into a well-rounded professional, who will be highly valued by employers and universities. English, Maths and IT, Employability, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education.

Entry requirements
Entry requirements shall be equivalent to passes in one of the following:
4 GCSE at grade 4 and above including English Language and Maths.
You will have an active and keen interest in Design, Art and Architecture. Entry will be subject to a successful interview and completion of a taster day/s.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed after attendance at a professional interview.

On successful completion of this two-year programme, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 4 HNC Architectural Technology or HNC Interior Design.
