Front-of-House Manger The Black Horse Pub in Chesham Vale stands as a cherished institution with a rich and colourful history. Nestled on the outskirts of Chesham, this traditional British public house is believed to have been established in the early 18th century, serving as a welcoming stop for both locals and visitors alike.
Recently purchased by a local family, together with a Head Chef hailing from one of Londons West End leading restaurants and originally from the region, The Black Horse is now being revived and transformed into the destination venue for Chesham Vale. To lead this exciting chapter, we are seeking a vibrant, innovative, and energetic Front-of-house Manager who is truly passionate about customer care, and eager to play a pivotal role in shaping its future.
This is a key role for someone who enjoys building a business, setting standards, and creating a great local pub that people want to return to. You will be heavily involved in the launch, putting systems in place, hiring and training the team, and shaping how the pub runs long-term. Your leadership will be essential in establishing best practices and fostering a warm, community-focused environment where both staff and guests feel valued. What Youll Be Responsible For
Leading the full re-opening and day-to-day running of the pub
Recruiting, training, and managing a strong front and back of house team
Being present on the floor during busy services and leading by example
Delivering a warm, welcoming experience for locals and visitors
Managing rotas, payroll, stock control, and ordering using Zonal
Driving standards across service, food, drink, and cleanliness
Working with the Facilities Manager, ensure the business is compliant for
licensing, health & safety and food hygiene compliance
Working closely with the owners to grow the business and build
an excellent reputation for Customer Service

Proven experience running a high-volume pub or similar hospitality venue
A natural leader who is calm, organised, and good under pressure
Someone who takes pride in quality service and a well-run operation
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Comfortable managing busy periods and seasonal trade

We are looking for the perfect candidate to start on 1 st May to help with the build and launch phase of the pub which has an estimated opening date of mid-June.
