Mental Health Community Practitioner Trainee (Development Role)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a traineeMental Health Practitioner within the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team for 30hours a week. This role will focus on the delivery of population based mentalhealth care for the community of Wyre Forest. You will be working alongside ateam of highly specialist practitioners and have direct relationships with theprofessionals within the local Primary Care Networks (PCN). If you are seekinga role that will encompass new ways of working that will be the future deliveryof community mental health care in England, then this is an opportunity youshould not miss. If you are a newly qualified RMN, OT or Social Worker, theTrainee MHP post offers a developmental package allowing you to work towards aBand 6 position in the team with guidance and support from experienced staffmembers and gives you the opportunity to spend time in other clinical areas todevelop your knowledge and understanding of the service. Consideration will bemade for flexible working and there may be some opportunities for staff membersto work from home where clinically possible.


Main duties of the job

Will work as akey member and resource of the MDT core team.

This post willoffer a challenging and exciting opportunity to gain experience of workingacross the Mental Health Service in Wyre Forest, developing relationships withPrimary Care, partner agencies and wider mental health services.

You will havethe opportunity to design and deliver evidence-based recovery focused mentalhealth interventions and groups. Knowledgeof delivery psychoeducation within a group environment and 1:1 would be anadvantage.

You will haveexperience of working with this user group in community settings. You will havea registered qualification in mental health nursing, occupational therapy orsocial work.

The ability towork flexibly as the need of the service demands is essential.

Attend weekly MDT meetings, participatein professionals meetings, signpost to adjunct services depending on patientneed.

Support and guidance to the carers ofpatients accessing the services.

Be supported in taking part inthe duty system and act appropriately when dealing with patients who areexperiencing difficulties in the absence of their allocated worker.

Receive clinical and managerialsupervision regularly.

A developmental plan will beavailable for this post. If you meet these requirements you will be offered aBand 6 post within the team.

Person Specification


Knowledge

* Knowledge of mental health illnesses, understanding the signs and symptoms
* Knowledge of principles of risk assessment and management
* Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2006 and other relevant legislation


Qualifications

* Relevant professional qualification relating to Health or Social Care e.g., in nursing (RMN), social work (BSc/Dip SW), Occupational Therapy (BSc OT)
* Current professional registration
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
* Evidence of continuing professional development


Additional Criteria

* Will be required to complete breakaway/de-escalation training
* Will shadow and participate in regular locality duty system if required
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post


Experience

* Assessment and management of clinical risk
* Working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Assessment of people presenting with mental health problems.
* Working in a primary care setting or secondary care setting
* Experience of delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions
* Managing own caseload
* Some community experience (however this can include time as a student or pre-qualification)
