We are looking to recruit a Process Engineering Manager from other industries who is passionate about data driven process and product development. Our ideal candidate for this role would have: Proven previous experience in a Senior Engineer role within the contact lens industry or a similar high-volume precision engineering role, including experience in managing technical projects; with aspects such as data driven process development, product development, design, metrology and statistical analysis is essential Able to resolve complex technical issues, taking a structured problem-solving approach whilst working within tight timescales is essential. an Engineering\Scientific based degree is essential Ability to manage, develop and engage a team of professionals to deliver high performance in line with functional objectives. Strong ability to multi-task as will be required to lead across or be involved in multiple projects. Good time management skills required and adherence to schedule. May be required to work to tight timescales or out of normal working hours to ensure that business needs are met. Ability to work under own initiative, proactively highlighting any areas of concern and recommended solutions to senior management that could compromise the business performance, compliance to systems, financial security/performance and health and safety Ensure their technical knowledge and capability remains at the leading edge in their discipline Be familiar with computer systems for business and technical needs. Be familiar with process and product rapid development/prototyping techniques. Job summary – What to expect: As the R&D Manager Process Engineering within our R&D team, you will manage the provision of manufacture process engineering related resource in the support of R&D projects and programs, and to facilitate design changes within Manufacturing to ensure product quality is maintained. The Process Engineering Manager will apply their specialist engineering/scientific knowledge to lead key projects, tackle complex issues, provide specialist advice and charter new technical areas. You will lead a team of R&D Engineers responsible for providing process development input to R&D projects. You will: Lead the Process Engineering team including recruiting, engaging, and developing a high performing team Support the R&D Director, Engineering in defining priorities for the team and cascade objectives to the team in line with their strengths and development goals. Resource R&D projects to produce new or develop existing products, utilising appropriate processes, equipment and data analysis techniques Deliver robust and technically excellent solutions to meet the agreed technical specifications within a project Hold regular status meetings with the team, stake holders and vendors where appropriate Act as mentor and coach/train other staff where appropriate Apply, communicate and monitor technical standards to ensure highest quality work on all projects Ensure that appropriate Health, Safety and ergonomic principles are incorporated into all projects Liaise with Project Managers to develop and agree project requirements and plans Ensure on-time delivery of technology development projects Lead the establishment and development of an effective vendor base to ensure timely supply at optimum quality and cost Work with the senior management in the costing of projects and capital equipment Ensure that deployed technical solutions and product quality are ‘fit for purpose’, process capable and robust Maintain project design history files and controlled documentation where appropriate to a project Demonstrate good knowledge and practice of continuous improvement techniques A full job description is available upon request.
