This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced finance professional to step into the Senior Accountant - Financial Strategy role within the Strategic Finance team. Job Description
This role is critical to maintaining the high performance of the council, working with senior leaders at the heart of strategic decision-making to deliver a complex portfolio of work. The ideal candidate will:
* Lead, build, and develop the Medium-Term Financial Strategy
* Provide strategic, technical, and specialist financial advice to senior management and the Corporate Board
* Partner with senior stakeholders across various services on financial planning and management
* Analyze spending plans, pressures, and pressures across corporate functions
* Oversee key revenue funding streams including grants and council tax
* Support budget planning and monitoring processes
* Offer insights and advice to boards and leadership teams
* Contribute to financial reporting and statutory returns
The Successful Applicant
• Part or Fully Qualified Accountant (e.g., CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Experience in a Public Sector organisation
• Experience in strategic or finance business partnering roles
• Ability to influence and engage non-finance stakeholders
• Proven ability to identify, plan, and implement innovative solutions
• Strong relationship-building and collaborative skills
• Effective risk and performance management
• Ability to work within high-performing, matrix-managed teams
