Electrical and Control Engineer - Northern England
Location: Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, UK
Mott MacDonald is seeking an Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation (EICA) Engineer to join our Water Utilities Division in the Manchester and Edinburgh offices. You will work on a wide range of design projects across water treatment, water distribution, wastewater, industrial process water, desalination, irrigation, hydropower, and flood defence, supporting the full project lifecycle from feasibility through commissioning.
Responsibilities
* Electrical power distribution design
* Control system design
* Specifying local renewable and back-up generation systems
* Developing plant layouts
* Cabling and installation design
* Instrumentation selection
* Lightning protection assessments
* Writing system control strategies
* Factory and site acceptance tests of equipment
* Collaborate with clients and contractors to build strong relationships and secure further work
Candidate specification
* Essential
o Qualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline
o Two years or more of experience in electrical and/or control engineering design/consultancy
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
o Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues
* Desirable
o Master’s degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline (or working towards)
o Chartered status with the IET or equivalent body
o Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry
o Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
