Financial Accountant (Interim)
Cwmbran, South Wales | Hybrid
The Opportunity:
A fast-growing, private equity-backed construction materials distribution business based in Cwmbran is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to provide immediate support during a key period.
Operating in a high-volume, operationally driven environment, this role will suit someone comfortable working with stock, margins, and large data sets. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring robust financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, and strengthening financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
2. Own balance sheet reconciliations, including stock, accruals, and key control accounts
3. Assist with month-end close (journals, accruals, prepayments)
4. Support stock accounting and margin analysis across product lines
5. Assist with cashflow reporting and forecasting
6. Support audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
7. Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with accounting standards
8. Identify and implement process improvements
9. Provide ad hoc analysis to support commercial and operational teams
About You
10. Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
11. Strong financial accounting experience, ideally within distribution, manufacturing, or construction-related sectors
12. Experience with stock accounting in a high-volume environment
13. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
14. Proactive, hands-on, and able to hit the ground running
15. Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar) advantageous
