Learn more about what sets us apart .**About The Role**Knight Frank is looking to hire a Head of Legal to join their Head Office in Baker Street. This is an exciting opportunity offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover).We are the world’s leading independent international property consultancy, headquartered in the UK, offering agency and professional advice across Commercial, Residential and Rural sectors. Established in 1896, Knight Frank now comprises a global network of over 27,000 people in 740+ Offices across 50 Territories.**Role:**Knight Frank’s in-house Legal Team supports all areas of the Knight Frank business including its residential, commercial, and business services divisions. We enable the Knight Frank business to take forward its commercial objectives whilst effectively managing legal risk in a proportionate way.On a day-to-day basis, we advise and partner on a broad range of subjects and projects, including strategic matters, growth and corporate M&A, franchising, regulatory matters, supplier and client contracts, the resolution of disputes, crisis management, data protection, intellectual property and much, much more.We are a busy, fast paced team but we can offer you a friendly, entrepreneurial, and supportive environment within which to work.It is an exciting time to join and lead Knight Frank’s legal function – We have some ambitious plans for the next 12 months and whilst this role is interim, its suits someone who has an interest in taking forward complex, and strategic programmes of work and who is experienced in growing integrated and strategic legal functions, both here in the UK and globally.**This may be the right role for you if you enjoy:*** managing a sizeable team.* liaising and supporting Executive Board members on a day-to-day basis with larger scale programmes of work.* are experienced in developing and taking forward strategic, global legal functions.* can tackle a broad ranging workload with a solution focused mindset.**Responsibilities:*** Providing strong leadership in managing, supporting and developing our existing UK Legal Team of circa 10 individuals.* Successfully taking forward existing plans to further develop and grow the UK Legal Team, and expanding Knight Frank’s global legal function.* Provide expert advice to senior leadership, including strategic planning through to more day-to-day operational matters.* Act as the main point of contact to the business for urgent, complex or crisis management matters.* Proactively identify, manage and mitigate legal risks across the business.* Work with Head of Compliance and Head of Financial Crime Compliance to all applicable laws, including regulatory requirements.* Develop and implement legal procedures and policies to ensure adherence to best practice and compliance with law.* Responsible for day-to-day supervision across the Legal Team, as well as continuing to develop existing roles in accordance with with individual career plans.* Responsible for preparation and oversight of financial year budget, monitoring and driving down legal spend, preparation of monthly and quarterly management information.* Manage Knight Frank’s panel law firm relationships, ensuring value for money for Knight Frank and quality of advice, conducting regular reviews of Knight Frank needs against law firm delivery.* Manage instructions to external counsel within agreed policy and budget. You’ll work in close collaboration with our panel law firms for specialist advice.* Embed a culture of legal engagement and compliance across the business, building strong working relationships with key stakeholders, providing regular training and encouraging business partnering between Legal and core internal teams.**Key Experience Required:*** Senior post-qualification experience, ideally with previous roles as Head of Legal or General Counsel.* Proven experience supporting senior leadership on complex programmes of work as well as day-to-day legal matters.* Demonstrated success in developing and growing UK and global legal functions.* Experience working in a fast-paced environment managing a busy and varied workload.**Key Skills Required:*** Personable and approachable, delivering user-friendly legal advice that is commercially minded and pragmatic.* Strong problem-solving skills, with a practical and solution-oriented approach.* Highly organised and able to work well under pressure, using initiative effectively.* A collaborative team player who values individuals and contributes to a supportive and friendly team culture.Competitive salaryPlease note: this is a Direct Search led by Knight Frank.
