LIVE-IN GOVERNESS/NANNY REQUIRED FOR HNW HOME Reference Number NA129 City Reading Country United Kingdom Salary From £55,000 Salary To £70,000 Salary Period annum Salary Information DOE Job Type Permanent Job Hours Full-time A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced Governess/Nanny to join a family of four based in Reading, Berkshire, to care for three boys aged 6, 4, and 2. The family are seeking someone warm, organised, and proactive who can support the boys’ education, wellbeing, and development, whilst ensuring their days are stimulating, structured, and full of fun. All three children attend school or nursery during the day. The role will involve assisting the children in the mornings with getting ready for the day and then resuming duties in the afternoon to support with schoolwork, after-school activities, and creative play. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the children. While the children are at school/nursery, the Governess/Nanny will be expected to take initiative in arranging appointments, managing diaries, and assisting with ad hoc family-related tasks. The family does employ a full-time housekeeper, so the ideal candidate must be a team player with excellent communication skills. The family would like someone who can bring educational structure, encourage good behaviour, and provide a nurturing yet disciplined approach. Working hours: 5 days per week, including weekends, averaging 45–50 hours. 2 days off are provided during the week. DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: • Morning routine: assisting the children in getting ready for school/nursery • School/nursery drop-off and pick-up as required • Supporting homework, reading, and educational activities after school • Planning and engaging the children in stimulating, age-appropriate play and creative activities • Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the children, including packed lunches if required • Managing children’s diaries, extracurricular activities, and appointments • Booking and organising playdates, activities, and events • Maintaining routines around manners, behaviour, and discipline in line with parental guidance ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: • Prior Governess/Nanny experience within a private household • Strong background in childcare and child development, with the ability to support early education • Energetic, engaging, and able to stimulate three young children with structured and creative activities • Highly organised, flexible, and proactive, with the ability to work as part of a team • Discreet, professional, and reliable with excellent communication skills • Willingness to work weekends • Valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one • Excellent English (spoken and written) • Eligibility to live and work in the UK • Excellent, checkable references
