A client within the Public Sector based in Doncaster is currently recruiting for an Asset Maintenance Engineer to join their Place Directorate / Highway Electrical Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, permanent position, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority highways and street lighting environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role: To lead on managing all highway electrical equipment across Doncaster, ensuring all assets are maintained, inspected, and replaced in line with legislation, safety standards, and council procedures. The role will also contribute to street lighting policy development and the delivery of safe, compliant, and energy-efficient lighting across the borough.
Key responsibilities
* Act as the main point of contact for highway electrical matters
* Ensure all electrical works comply with Health & Safety legislation and council procedures
* Manage unmetered energy extracts and rectify discrepancies
* Develop and manage cyclic maintenance and testing programmes
* Maintain accurate asset records and statutory certification on the asset database
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
* Level 7 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
* NVQ Level 4 or above in street lighting or electrical engineering
* Registration with the Engineering Council (EngTech or equivalent)
The following skills would be beneficial for the role:
* Experience managing electrical assets within a local authority environment
* Strong knowledge of unmetered supplies and asset management systems
* Experience managing electrical sub-contractors and budgets
* Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, CDM, and street lighting regulations
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering £47,000 per annum.
