Locum Consultant in Radiology (Musculoskeletal)
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated doctor to join our Radiology department to complement the existing team of musculoskeletal radiologists and consultant radiologists. The role is full‑time (10 PA) but part‑time applications will be considered, with additional DCC PA negotiated if required.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary musculoskeletal imaging services on the Wakefield (Pinderfields) site with potential on‑site presence at Dewsbury, Pontefract and/or our Community Diagnostic Centre in Wakefield.
- Support and enable the team to deliver an excellent musculoskeletal service throughout the year for acute and elective pathways.
- Promptly vet, protocol and report acute musculoskeletal imaging, offering advice to clinicians, radiologists and radiographers.
- Competently perform musculoskeletal ultrasound and report plain film, CT and MRI examinations.
- Expertise in image‑guided joint injections would be highly beneficial.
- Contribute to the general radiology workload, including acute CT.
- Participate in the general diagnostic on‑call rota (approximately 1 in 20 weeknights and 1 in 10 weekends).
- Engage in additional subspecialty interests as agreed with service needs.
- Support professional activities (SPAs) and participate in teaching, leadership or other roles as appropriate.
- Work with teleradiology, home workstation and secure VPN for remote reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
- Medical degree from a recognised medical school.
- FRCR or equivalent and subspecialty training and experience in musculoskeletal imaging.
- Experience in general cross‑sectional reporting.
- Demonstrated analytical approach to problem solving and good time management.
- Caring, compassionate and flexible, with strong communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to and learn hospital internal systems.
- Physically capable of carrying out the duties of the role.
- Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
