We’re working with a well-established plant hire business to recruit a Workshop Manager for their Corby depot. This is a key leadership role within a busy operation, overseeing the maintenance, compliance and day-to-day performance of the workshop and its team. The salary range reflects experience, with the upper end reserved for a highly experienced candidate who can hit the ground running and take full ownership of the function. The opportunity You’ll be responsible for leading workshop activity, ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard and keeping everything compliant, safe and running efficiently. This is a hands-on management role suited to someone who understands both the technical and people side of running a plant workshop. Key responsibilities * Lead, motivate and manage workshop staff, setting clear objectives and maintaining performance standards * Oversee maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to meet service and safety requirements * Ensure full compliance with health and safety, environmental and regulatory standards * Maintain roadworthiness and service records across the fleet * Carry out regular checks, inspections and audits of workshop practices * Work closely with depot leadership to support operational performance and service delivery What we’re looking for * Proven experience managing a workshop within the plant or heavy equipment sector * Strong background in maintenance and repair of construction plant such as excavators, rollers, dumpers, pavers or similar equipment * Recognised engineering or plant maintenance qualification, ideally NVQ Level 3 or equivalent * Confident people manager with the ability to lead, develop and hold a team accountable * Strong problem solving and decision making skills * Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office * Full UK driving licence What’s on offer * Salary £43,000 to £50,000 depending on experience * Discretionary annual bonus * Employer contributory pension * Company van * Life assurance * Stable, long-established business with a strong presence in the UK plant hire market
