About the Role - Lecturer in Plumbing
We are delighted to represent Cambridge FE College in their search for an inspiring and experienced Plumbing Lecturer to join their Construction & Building Services department. As a Plumbing Lecturer, you'll deliver inspirational teaching across a range of programmes to learners of varying ages and abilities. You'll play a key role in course design, programme development, and the continued expansion of this thriving department.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning:
1. Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across plumbing programmes
2. Provide inspirational education to learners with diverse ages and abilities
3. Create and maintain teaching materials, handouts, assignments, and electronic resources
4. Prepare comprehensive Schemes of Work and Assessment
5. Integrate Maths & English into the vocational curriculum
6. Conduct moderation, assessment, and verification activities
Student Support:
7. Act as course tutor, supporting learners to achieve their targets
8. Track and review student progress, maintaining detailed records
9. Provide regular feedback to students, parents/guardians, and employers
10. Arrange and support work placement programmes
Course Development & Administration:
11. Contribute to course design and programme development
12. Assist in recruitment and admission of new students
13. Attend internal and external promotional events
14. Participate in course team reviews and curriculum development initiatives
15. Liaise with Awarding Body representatives and External Verifiers
Industry Engagement:
16. Develop and maintain strong industrial links within the plumbing sector
17. Stay current with industry trends and technological advances
18. Contribute to the expansion of the department's industry connections
Essential Requirements
Qualifications:
19. Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Plumbing
20. GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
21. Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
22. Substantial, recent and relevant industrial experience in plumbing
23. Proven track record in the plumbing industry with up-to-date knowledge
Skills & Attributes:
24. Current Health & Safety knowledge for the plumbing industry
25. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
26. Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines
27. Ability to motivate people of all ages and abilities
28. Flexible and responsive approach to change
29. Professional appearance and outlook
30. High-level IT skills for creating teaching resources
Working Requirements:
31. Flexibility for evening and weekend work when required
32. Ability to travel independently to other college centres
33. Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
Desirable Requirements
Teaching Qualifications:
34. Certificate in Education/PGCE/DTLLS
35. Assessor qualifications (A1 or equivalent)
36. Internal Verification qualification (V1 or equivalent)
Experience:
37. Recent lecturing, instructing, or training experience
38. In-depth knowledge of current plumbing curriculum
39. Additional construction/building services related qualifications
