Socode are partnering with a global technology business that develops mission-critical communication products used worldwide. As part of continued growth, they’re looking to hire a Mechanical Design Verification Engineer to strengthen their in-house verification capability.
This role is focused on making sure mechanical designs are properly proven before release. You’ll be responsible for planning and executing verification activity across the full product lifecycle, working closely with Design, Electronics, Systems and Manufacturing teams to identify risk early and provide clear, objective evidence that products meet requirements. You’ll be hands-on with hardware, prototypes and test setups. This isn’t a desk-only compliance role.
What will you be doing?
Defining and executing mechanical verification plans against product requirements and relevant standards
Reviewing designs, drawings, materials, tolerances and assemblies to identify verification risks
Developing structured test plans and ensuring traceability between requirements and test evidence
Carrying out mechanical and environmental testing including shock, vibration, drop, thermal and ingress protection
Performing structural, durability, wear and life-cycle testing
Designing and building test fixtures, jigs and rigs to support verification activities
Analysing failures, identifying root cause and feeding clear, practical recommendations back to design teams
Producing concise verification reports with clear pass/fail conclusions
Preparing samples and supporting external test houses where required
Maintaining test equipment and contributing to continuous improvement of verification processesWhat are they looking for?
Degree, HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar

Practical workshop skills (drilling, tapping, minor rework, fixture build)
Experience writing structured test plans, procedures and verification reports
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T
Structured, methodical approach with strong analytical skills
Clear communicator who can challenge designs constructivelyNice to have
