Overview
Quality Control Inspector - Machine shop, Late Shift – Permanent position located in Havant. The role involves inspecting components within a machine shop that operates across 5 cells producing seals and bearings for marine sector customers and various navies worldwide. Work hours are 14:30 – 22:30 Monday - Thursday and 12:30 – 20:00 Friday (30-minute lunch break).
Responsibilities
* Product inspection – Inspect components at various stages of production including final inspection. Raise non-conformances in accordance with the non-conformance process.
* Perform additional duties or special projects as requested.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and related documentation (e.g., Purchase Orders, Concessions).
* Communicate effectively with Quality Assurance and management in situations involving quality control issues.
* Inspect as per current procedures and specifications and release parts to stores, assembly and packaging areas.
* Collate and record traceability details to support QA with MDR Quality Packs & Class Visits.
* Apply problem-solving techniques to support root cause analysis and investigations.
* Be flexible with a wide variety of duties, working to OTIF (On Time In Full) targets, individually or as part of the Logistics Team.
* Maintain a safe working environment and high housekeeping standards.
Responsibilities (continued)
* Possess general knowledge of Quality System Regulations and International Standards.
* Use inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges) to check dimensions and processes against drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
* Work with Quality Control Inspectors, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure compliance with process work documents.
* Ensure in-process inspections are completed according to engineering specifications during production.
* Carry out mechanical, visual, and dimensional inspections using appropriate hand tools; potential CMM programming and inspection if previously trained or capable.
* Communicate quality issues with Supply Quality Assurance Engineer.
* Label and store products correctly in the warehouse and manage inventory system transactions.
* Interpret engineering drawings for visual dimensional inspection of purchased or manufactured products.
* Coordinate with operations teams to ensure proactive actions meet OTIF goals.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
* All duties performed in a safe manner following H&S procedures.
Qualifications
* Mechanical and electrical component inspection experience.
* Basic mechanical inspection tools and dimensional inspection hand tools.
* Knowledge of FDA, GMP, ISO 13485 where applicable.
* Experience in a production/engineering environment.
* Understanding of Health & Safety environment/procedures.
* Ability to read and understand drawings.
* Minimum of 5 years mechanical inspection experience is desirable.
* Strong communication with co-workers and across Logistics Operations teams.
* Education to college standard or mechanical apprenticeship; alternatively substantial manufacturing experience.
* Experience with Microsoft/MRP systems and SAP.
