What Does an Engineering Support Technician Do?
An Engineering Support Technician delivers engineering operations across multiple upper tier COMAH sites within the Spirits Engineering department. They focus on document management, including maintaining engineering standards and CAD drawings. They act as custodians of supporting documentation for maintenance and engineering projects, contributing to continuous improvement activities to ensure:
* All relevant Bacardi and legislative standards are current and accessible to the UKSC Engineering Team.
* All process and GA drawings are up-to-date, in CAD format, and properly controlled.
* Implementation and management of a comprehensive document management system for engineering resources.
* Support in developing engineering personnel aligned with skills matrices and CTMS processes.
* Assistance in engineering performance reporting and process improvements.
* Enhancement of performance in line with World Class Manufacturing standards.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Managing the document control process for the UKSC Engineering Team.
* Maintaining Engineering Drawings (P&IDs, GAs, Electrical, Gas, Schematics, etc.), updating when necessary, and ensuring accuracy of registers.
* Custodian of all SOPs, Work Instructions, and Risk Assessments.
* Supporting project lifecycle from concept to handover, ensuring drawings and registers reflect changes.
* Recommending process improvements for continuous engineering enhancement.
* Supporting team development and skills management via CTMS and skills matrices.
* Liaising with external suppliers/contractors and supporting PTW requirements.
* Supporting Maintenance Managers and Coordinators as needed.
* Identifying improvements for asset operation and participating in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintaining a safe work environment adhering to 5S standards and health and safety regulations.
* Contributing to team KPIs and personal development activities, including CompEx certification for hazardous areas.
* Proactively monitoring performance, addressing issues, and ensuring safety.
Skills and Experience
Educational Requirements:
* HNC / HND or equivalent in engineering.
Experience:
* Maintaining P&ID and GAs on CAD.
* Document management in a production environment.
* Knowledge of CMMS systems.
* Proficient in MS Office.
* Experience creating technical documents and reports.
* Experience in FMCG/spirit industry preferred.
* Knowledge of hazardous environment standards (ATEX, DSEAR).
* Understanding of regulatory standards (PSSR, LOLER, PUWER).
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN, TPM).
* Ability to network across multiple sites; team management experience preferred.
