Overview
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and the wider business. You will join a MEICA team to prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of crucial assets, enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. This will involve working closely with external contractors to develop a world-class asset management organisation and addressing challenges related to climate change.
The role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards. It will also monitor quality and advise on requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across a geographic area with a diverse range of assets.

The Team
Based in the South East MEICA Team of mixed disciplines, you will report to the MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activity and participating in responses to flood incidents. You will provide technical mechanical support and direction to team members and liaise with a wide range of business partners, leading on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
Experience/Skills Required
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering-related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
* Experience leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to drive improvements in engineering and behavioural safety.
* Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing/reviewing technical specifications.
* Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate Mechanical discipline.
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
Role Details
* Location: You can be based at any of the listed locations with occasional hybrid homeworking and site visits; therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.
* Interviews: Face-to-face preferred; video interviews may be considered under special circumstances.
* Incident response: All staff undertake training and participate in incident response duties as part of working for the Environment Agency.
