Role Overview
York Learning, the City of York Council’s dedicated community and adult education training and skills provider, is looking for its next Operations Manager following the promotion of the previous post holder within York Learning.
Responsibilities
* Manage front‑line staff dealing with enrolments, finance, venue coordination and other operational tasks across multiple sites.
* Be both proactive and reactive, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.
* Implement policies and procedures, while identifying opportunities to innovate and improve services.
* Lead line management responsibilities (direct and indirect) for the wider operations teams, including the exams team.
Qualifications and Requirements
* IOSH qualified or prepared to work towards an IOSH qualification; experience with health and safety guidelines and legislation.
* Strong attention to detail, systems orientation and ability to lead from the front and delegate appropriately.
* Public‑facing competency, able to converse and provide advice to members of the public in spoken English at CEFR level C2.
* Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Ability to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
* Not eligible for visa sponsorship; the Council does not have a sponsorship licence.

Hybrid working arrangements are available. The contractual location will be the designated council office for the role.
