A fantastic East Yorkshire based FMGC company are looking for a hands‑on engineering leader who is required to take full ownership of the engineering function.
Responsibilities
* Maintaining, repairing, and improving all site equipment to ensure consistent, efficient production.
* Implementing and driving planned and preventative maintenance, delivering site and equipment improvements, and leading Capex activity.
* Working closely with production, focus on reducing downtime, increasing output, and building robust in‑house mechanical and electrical capability.
* Managing external contractors.
* Establishing a fit‑for‑purpose maintenance workshop.
* As part of the senior management team, contribute to improving site systems, culture, GMP, quality, and overall performance.
* This role demands a practical, sleeves‑rolled‑up approach – a leader who thrives on being present on the factory floor.
Experience Required
* Strong background in FMCG or similar fast‑moving production environments.
* Broad exposure to food manufacturing equipment (e.g., boilers, pans, compressors, multi‑heads, conveyors, check‑weighers, metal detectors, pouch/flow wrapping machinery).
* Proven ability to design and implement preventative maintenance systems.
* Competence across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
* Ability to coach and develop line leaders in basic machine operation.
* Solid understanding of health and safety and regulatory compliance.
Hours
* Standard: 7:00–16:00, 40 hours per week.
* Flexibility required to support breakdowns and production needs (factory runs 7:00–17:00; occasional Saturday mornings).
* 5 days per week.
