Are you passionate about making a difference in children's lives? Would you enjoy working in a supportive environment supporting West Dunbartonshire's young people on their learning journey? We have exciting opportunities for highly motivated, flexible individuals to join our team of Learning Assistants. You would work in mainstream settings, assisting teachers to provide children with mainstream and additional support needs a stimulating and rewarding learning environment. This role offers the chance to contribute to the quality of care and welfare of pupils, assist the teaching team in organizing and using teaching resources effectively, and support pupils in accessing the curriculum.
If you have experience supporting children with additional support needs—whether in a personal, voluntary, or paid capacity—and possess good admin/IT skills, we want to hear from you.
Various fixed-term posts are available for 12.5, 13.75, 25, and 27.5 hours. These are part-time, term-time positions, with salary pro-rata to hours and weeks worked. The posts are fixed until 19/12/2025.
Applicants need to be available to work within school hours (Monday to Friday, 8.45 am to 3.45 pm) and across various mainstream educational establishments within West Dunbartonshire Council. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements to support transition times, such as school start and finish times.
Requirements
This post is considered regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007, and membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details about the scheme can be found here. Preferred applicants will need to join the PVG scheme or undergo a scheme update check before a formal offer is made.
Responsibilities
The employment is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are not statutorily entitled to withhold convictions, even if they are spent under the Act. Failure to disclose convictions could lead to dismissal or disciplinary action.
