Electricity Assessing Officer
Location: Home, covering Cambridge, Peterborough and Essex region. Salary: Competitive. Contract type: Permanent.
Responsibilities
* Technical assessment of electrical engineers on BUUK networks ensuring an efficient system to undertake Network Authorisation change.
* Actively engage in future changes to Distribution Safety Rules (DSR) (GE-NOP-ES-0017) alongside the development of appropriate operational training for staff.
* Collaborate with the Safety and Technical Competence (STC) Manager to ensure training is relevant to DSR/operational changes, contributing to development and competency assessment.
* Manage the competence of individuals responsible for the safe systems of work around the Electricity Network, ensuring compliance with Distribution Safety Rules.
* Undertake continual improvement reviews of existing and new IT systems/processes (internal and external).
* Represent the business in areas of technical training at industry bodies.
* Assist the STC Manager with identifying operational competency gaps, providing strategic guidance and developing a programme to close these gaps with necessary resources.
* Support the STC Manager with the development and management of Safety and Technical Competencies for engineering personnel across design, build, test, commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of utility assets.
* Ensure all approved and competent engineers adhere to BUUK procedures.
* Deliver timely and accurate reporting regarding engineer competence to senior management.
* Contribute to compliance with departmental KPIs, including incident investigations and safety audits of operational staff.
* Train additional engineers in leading Accident & Incident Investigations.
* Other duties as directed by the Head of Electricity Asset Management.
Qualifications
* Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
* Valid EUSR (CSCS) Card.
* IEng in Electrical Engineering (or working towards).
* IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
Experience / Knowledge
* Experience supporting the development of colleagues.
* Management, technical, industry, contract, programme, policy, standards, system operations, commissioning and Health & Safety experience in power distribution up to 33 kV.
* Leading multiple project delivery teams related to primary sub-stations, including 33 kV Network Management Systems.
* High‑voltage electrical design and maintenance on transmission & distribution networks.
Abilities & Skills
* Effective leader with excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive knowledge building through personal effort.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent.
Desirable
* NEBOSH General Safety.
* Experience managing system operations, commissioning and Health & Safety in power distribution up to 132 kV.
* Leading project delivery teams for primary sub-stations, including 132 kV Network Management Systems.
Conditions of Employment
