Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for design? Thanet District Council is looking for a talented Visual Content Officer to join our Communications Team, in the Strategy and Transformation service.
In this role, you will be at the heart of our Communications team, helping to promote council services to 140,000 residents and stakeholders. We are a forward-thinking team dedicated to protecting and enhancing the council's reputation while improving how we engage with our local community. The Role
As our Visual Content Officer, your primary purpose is to bring the council's work to life through engaging visual storytelling. You will plan, design, and create content that demonstrates the vital work the council is delivering across a variety of digital and offline platforms.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
Developing creative content, including images, artwork, and graphics for print, digital and social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
Designing assets for corporate newsletters and internal staff briefings.
Ensuring all creative work reflects the council's branding guidelines and house style.
Creating accessible content that maintains plain English standards at all times.
Supporting the team with content for public-facing consultation and engagement activity.
Assisting with the publication of news releases and uploading content to the council's website and staff intranet.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong eye for typography, colour, and layout. You should have:
Demonstrable experiencein a design or communications role, producing content on behalf of an organisation.
Exceptional skillsin using Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as digital and social media platforms, including Meta Business Suite, Canva, and Hootsuite.
Strong verbal and written communication skillswith a keen eye for detail.
A solid understandingof how to adapt communication styles for different audiences and platforms, ensuring accessibility needs are met.
Proficiencyin GSuite or equivalent platforms and the ability to learn new content management systems quickly.
You should be educated to A Level standard or have equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role.
Extra Requirements
Please note that this is a Politically Restricted Post. While a driving licence is not an essential requirement for this role, the successful candidate must be able to travel to the Margate office and across the district as required for events or briefings.
