Independent Reviewing Officer (Part Time – 22.2 hours per week)
 Salary: Up to £55,607 pro rata + £7,000 market premia + £3,000 annual retention payment (after 1 year’s service)

 Medway Council is seeking a committed Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service. This part-time role offers the opportunity to ensure high-quality services for children and young people in need of protection and those looked after by the Council.
 Key Responsibilities:
Chair complex case conferences and review meetings, ensuring full participation of children, young people, families, and professionals.
Independently review care plans in compliance with statutory guidance.
Challenge actions and interventions that are not delivering required outcomes.
Contribute to quality assurance and performance management to maintain high practice standards.
Promote children and young people’s voices, rights, and wellbeing in all decisions.Person Specification:
Recognised professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
Minimum of 5 years post-qualifying experience, including statutory child protection and looked-after children work.
Extensive experience in Family Court proceedings, PLO processes, and safeguarding frameworks.
Strong skills in report writing, communication, and engaging with children, young people, and stakeholders.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and current social work research.
Competent in Microsoft Office and electronic children’s systems (e.g., MOSAIC).
Full driving licence and daily use of a car.Benefits:
