We are looking for a reliable and caring Phlebotomist to join our team at Tadley Medical Partnership. You will play a key role in supporting patient care by collecting blood samples for testing as part of routine health checks, chronic disease monitoring, and diagnostic investigations. This is a patient-facing role that requires professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail in a primary care setting.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform venepuncture to collect blood samples from adult and elderly patients.
* Ensure all specimens are correctly labelled and prepared for transport to the laboratory.
* Verify patient identity and explain procedures in a calm, reassuring manner.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the surgery's EMIS clinical system.
* Work closely with GPs, nurses, and healthcare assistants to coordinate patient care.
* Ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical area.
* Follow infection control and health & safety protocols at all times.
* Recognise and respond to any adverse reactions during or after sample collection.
* Assist in monitoring stock levels of phlebotomy supplies and report shortages.
* Maintain patient confidentiality in line with GDPR and NHS guidelines.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Phlebotomy training with certificate of proof
* Recent experience in phlebotomy
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
* Familiarity with primary care clinical systems (EMIS)
* Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
* Experience working in a GP practice or community setting
* Basic life support training
* Ability to assist with other clinical tasks if needed (e.g., ECGs, blood pressure monitoring)
