We are seeking a patient, resilient and caring 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who requires additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning and thrive in a school environment. Starting June 2025 Duties as 1:1 SEMH: Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs, under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher. Promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning. Support the pupil’s social interactions and communication skills. Use a range of strategies and interventions to meet individual needs, including therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches. Monitor and record progress, incidents and achievements, sharing regularly with staff and parents/carers. Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour plans and EHCP outcomes. Work in partnership with external professionals (e.g. EPs, CAMHS, family support). Ideal 1:1 SEMH: Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (in school, youth work or care settings). Be calm, empathetic and consistent, with excellent behaviour management skills. Be able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff and families. Understand safeguarding, confidentiality and the importance of emotional wellbeing. Be proactive, reliable and able to work as part of a wider team as 1:1 SEMH. Qualifications in behaviour support, child development or therapeutic approaches are desirable. Why Class Act?
