We’re looking for a Kitchen Assistant. In this role, you’d be making a real difference to the work of the National Trust, as well as helping to give people a memorable day out.

Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed-term position. We aim to offer a consistent working pattern where possible, but flexibility may be required to suit business needs, with advance notice provided. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays, but no evenings or split shifts.
Salary: £11.50 per hour.
Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 1st November 2025.
Interview date: 26th or 28th November.

What it's like to work here
Nestled on the edge of the Peak District between Sheffield and Hathersage, Longshaw Estate welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. We invested in a new, enlarged café over 3 years ago and are now looking to add a Kitchen Assistant to support with prep work, washing pots, and keeping the kitchen running smoothly.
What you'll be doing
As a Kitchen Assistant, your main focus will be back of house. You’ll support our kitchen team with prep work and ensure the pot wash area is clean and tidy. Tasks may include chopping vegetables, portioning freshly baked brownies, or weighing ingredients for scones. Your enthusiasm, teamwork, and adaptability will ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience. This is a lively environment that requires a positive attitude and flexibility.
We’ll provide an induction tailored to the role, training in allergens and food safety, and mentoring to support your development. Further professional training is available if desired.
