This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for building and evolving a high-performing, scalable HR Shared Services and Payroll function, ensuring a seamless, efficient and data-driven service across the entire employee lifecycle. You’ll lead transformation, drive standardisation, and enhance the employee and manager experience — all while supporting a fast-paced, growing organisation. What You’ll Be Doing Leadership & Direction Lead and develop the HR Shared Services and Payroll leadership team Set clear objectives, performance standards and drive accountability Build a high-performing, customer-focused culture Service Delivery & Experience Own the end-to-end employee lifecycle (hire to retire) Ensure delivery against SLAs, KPIs and service standards Act as escalation point for complex or high-risk issues Improve employee and manager experience through simplification and digital solutions Process & Continuous Improvement Drive standardisation of HR and payroll processes across the group Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce risk Support integration of new sites and acquisitions into a centralised model Ensure strong governance, documentation and controls Payroll Oversight & Governance Hold accountability for accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery Ensure adherence to UK statutory requirements (HMRC, pensions, holiday pay) Maintain robust controls, validation processes and audit readiness Data, Reporting & Insight Develop and own HRSS and Payroll performance dashboards Provide data-driven insights to HR, Finance and senior stakeholders Monitor performance, identify trends and drive improvements Ensure alignment between HR processes and systems (e.g. ADP, HRIS platforms) What We’re Looking For Significant experience leading HR Shared Services and Payroll functions at a senior level Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance Proven track record of leading transformation and driving operational excellence Experience within growth or acquisition-led environments Strong commercial awareness — able to balance service, cost and risk Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (ADP experience highly desirable) Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior level About The Compleat Food Group At The Compleat Food Group, we’re proud to be a food business built on purpose and passion.
