Band 5 Nurse - Childrens Respite centre - RMN, childrens or RNLD Nurse

£35,763 - £43,466 Per annum inclusive of HCAS

Are you a registered mental health, children's, or learning disability nurse with a deep passion for supporting children and young people with complex health needs, autism and challenging behaviour? Do you believe in making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and their families by providing compassionate care and enriching short breaks?

We’re looking for someone who:

* Has the leadership skills to manage staff and take charge as a shift leader

Possesses strong clinical expertise, including:

Safe administration of medication, including teaching and assessing competencies for junior staff

Enteral feeding

Emergency medication protocols, including epilepsy care

* Working with young people with Autism and challenging behaviour

Can deliverperson-centred care plans tailored to each child or young person

Demonstratesexcellent communication skillsand a collaborative spirit

Person specification


Registered nurse with NMC

* To be a registered learning disability nurse, mental health nurse or children's nurse.
* To have lapsed registration in learning disability nursing and is prepared to undertake a return to practise course.


Knowledge of learning disability, complex health, autism and challenging behaviour.

* To demonstrate that you have underpinning knowledge to support and deliver care with a holistic approach for Children and young people who access the service.
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience in a setting whereby transferrable skills could be tailored to meet the needs of the Children and young people who access the service.


Leadership and and problem solving skills.

* To demonstrate examples of leading a shift and delegating tasks to junior staff. To demonstrate examples of problem solving and effective communication skills.
* To have undertaken a mentorship qualification or had experience in supervising student nurses.


Experience working with children/and or adults with learning disabilites.

* Provide evidence or examples of working with children and/or adults with a learning disability, complex health, autism and challenging behaviour.


To be able to teach and assess junior staff in clicnial practise.

* To be competent in the safe administration of medication and enteral feeds. To demonstrate knowledge of epilepsy, and how to respond to an emergency. To be able to assess competencies for junior staff.


To have experience within with a multi-professional team.

* To be able to demonstrate examples of working within a multi-professional team.
* To have knowledge and experience working alongside Social Workers, Education, Health Professionals and key stakeholders in the Child or young persons life.

Salary is determined by NHS experience and current banding/pay point. External applicants will begin at the entry point of the salary scale in line with NHS terms and conditions.
