Role Overview
This is a core role at MOWALOLA, overseeing the full product cycle for womenswear and menswear—from initial product development to final bulk delivery. Reporting to the Studio Manager and Creative Director, you'll manage global supplier networks, critical path schedules, budgets, and a small product/production team. You'll be both a strategic leader and hands-on operations manager, driving luxury RTW collections, capsules, bespoke projects, and collaborations in a fast-paced, creatively led environment.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development
Lead product development, manage sampling, and ensure technical and creative alignment with the design vision.
Approve final samples and production swatches, overseeing pre-production processes and quality control.
Source fabrics and materials in line with creative direction and budget.
Allocate styles with factories and samplers.
Develop a network of trusted factories, mills and suppliers
Troubleshoot supply chain challenges to meet deadlines.
Production Strategy & Operations
Oversee the full production process from first prototype to stock delivery across all collections and collaborations.
Manage critical path schedules, workflows, and operational systems to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery.
Develop production strategies aligned with creative and commercial objectives.
Manage international production partners (Turkey, China, Italy etc.), negotiating terms, managing capacity, and ensuring ethical and sustainable practices.
Supplier, Factory & Logistics Management
Coordinate shipments and ensure timely delivery to UK and global destinations.
Handle import/export requirements for bulk shipments.
Budget & Cost Management
Own production budgets and product costings, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
Manage final garment costs, including materials, freight, duties, and development expenses.
Approve vendor invoices, purchase orders, and production orders.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor product development and production assistants. Manage freelancers, interns, and external partners.
Collaborate with Design, Art Direction, and E-commerce teams to align operations with creative vision and commercial strategies.
Reporting & Systems Management
Maintain production schedules, costing sheets, and shipment logs on Zedonk.
Generate reports on production status, financial performance, and supplier performance for leadership.
Lead weekly product and production calls; attend fittings and coordinate its feedback to factories and/or samplers.
Requirements
5+ years' experience in product development and production management, ideally in contemporary, luxury, or high-end RTW.
Proven experience managing international supply chains and complex production calendars.
Proven experience managing import/export with overseas suppliers and UK warehouse.
Expertise in garment construction, materials sourcing, and technical production processes.
Strong budget management, costing, and financial reporting skills.
Experience leading a small, high-performance team and collaborating cross-functionally.
Ability to stay calm, organized, and decisive under tight deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
Proficient in Excel
Experience with production management software (Zedonk)
