Join to apply for the One Stop - Shift Leader role at One Stop Stores Ltd. One Stop is a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. The customer is at the heart of everything we do, and you will continually improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback. You will understand how your store is performing and act as a hands-on specialist to drive practical improvements. With your guidance, the store should always be a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Open/close the store and manage duty cover, making decisions that are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
* Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well presented
* Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
* Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect good practice
* Take immediate action for overcharges and prevent recurrence
* Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip
* Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
* Know the store well and coordinate others to deliver practical improvements
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Deliver clear communication to the team and keep them informed
* Identify ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
* Always put the customer first and tailor service to meet their needs
* Resolve customer queries promptly and leave customers with a positive impression
* Adjust the service provided to meet individual customer needs
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues delivering great service
* Identify and remove obstacles that hinder great service
* Resolve colleague queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate appropriately
* Ensure appropriate staffing and arrange cover for short-term absences/sickness
* Be a recognised Keyholder and attend alarm call-outs as needed
* Monitor internal communications and ensure timely action and staff awareness
* Coordinate to meet customer needs and feedback issues to the Store Manager
* Balance time across service and replenishment areas
* Support the Store Manager in managing absence and return-to-work interviews as per policy
* Build relationships with Area Manager and People Partner to escalate issues and receive coaching
Note: If the store has a Post Office Local, duties will include Post Office operations and you may need to pass a Post Office financial and criminal conviction background check. If checks fail, the job offer may be withdrawn.
