Windows Engineer – Contract - Hybrid (2 days onsite in Leeds). This is an initial 3 month contract, paying £500 per day, inside IR35, 2 days a week onsite in central Leeds. We are seeking a skilled contract Windows Engineer to join a client's infrastructure engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in building, hardening, and automating Windows environments to enterprise standards. Key Responsibilities Manage and support Windows Server environments from 2012 to 2025 Build, configure and maintain VMware and VCF based infrastructure Administer Azure services with a focus on identity, compute and automation Use PowerShell to automate routine tasks, create scripts, and improve operational efficiency Oversee patching cycles, WSUS administration and vulnerability remediation Create and manage Group Policies Complete new server builds including configuration, testing and documentation Implement Windows hardening standards to strengthen security posture Maintain clear technical documentation for builds, processes and operational tasks Support configuration management using Chef or Ansible where required About You Strong background in Windows Server engineering Experience working in large or complex server environments Confident with VMware, VCF and Azure services Skilled in PowerShell scripting and automation Good understanding of patching, WSUS, compliance and security standards Able to create and manage GPOs and follow structured build processes Comfortable working with infrastructure hardening and best practice frameworks Strong communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical domains Why Join Opportunity to work with a modern Windows and virtualisation estate A role with autonomy, responsibility and the chance to shape engineering standards Supportive team environment where engineering quality matters This is an urgent requirement so please apply immediately to be considered.
