Job overview To undertake a range of tasks in support of the physiologists including recording 12 lead electrocardiograms, applying heart monitors and carrying out spirometry on both in -patients and out-patients across the hospital sites. You will also assist the senior physiologists with more high risk procedures such as stress echocardiography, exercise stress tests, transoesophageal echocardiography, and implantable cardiac monitoring set up. You may also be expected to support the physiologists onsite with other ATO duties as services develop. Advert 1. Perform clinical procedures on patients of all ages, including children, with the ability to explain to patients about each test and what will be required of them, within an agreed competence, to the standards required by the SCST and ARTP. These procedures include: Recording routine 12 lead electrocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients. Applying and issuing 24 hour/ multi-day ambulatory monitoring to inpatients and outpatients To perform basic lung function tests including spirometry and FeNO along with administration of nebulized medication / metered dose inhalers when requested. To issue overnight sleep study equipment and oximeters, and download the recordings Assist Cardio-respiratory Physiologists during procedures with high risk of patient adverse events, including Stress echocardiography and exercise tolerance testing Implantable Cardiac Devices Transoesophageal echocardiography Recognise signs and symptoms of life-threatening and urgent cardiac and respiratory abnormalities and take steps to support patients as necessary To be able to perform ILS Working for our organisation Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a caring and compassionate organisation that is both ambitious and innovative.
