Job Overview

We are seeking both a talented sous chef to join our kitchen team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen, maintaining the highest culinary standards, and supporting management in leading and orchestrating the team. This is an exciting opportunity for chefs with a passion for both seafood and traditional pub food with a modern twist, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. These positions are both, full time and permanent working 5 days out of 7 based on a 45 hour working week.


Key Responsibilities

* Support Kitchen Operations:Assist in managing kitchen operations, ensuring all dishes are prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standard.
* Food Preparation & Cooking:Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of food, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
* Team Leadership & Development:Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive environment. Ensure all team members adhere to kitchen procedures and health & safety standards.
* Inventory Management:Assist in stock management, including inventory control, ordering, and proper rotation of ingredients. Ensure minimal food wastage.
* Health & Safety Compliance:Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards, including sanitation practices and ensuring the kitchen complies with all local regulations.
* Quality Control:Monitor and maintain consistent quality control during service, ensuring dishes are served promptly and at the desired standard.
* Collaboration:Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient communication and a seamless dining experience for guests.
* Budget Management:Help control food costs by adhering to portion control, minimising waste, and following recipes accurately.


Key Skills & Requirements

* Proven experience in a pub, restaurant, or similar kitchen environment.
* Excellent culinary skills and a passion for preparing high-quality, fresh food.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate kitchen staff.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Solid understanding of kitchen equipment, cooking techniques, and food safety practices.
* A keen eye for detail and commitment to consistency in food quality and presentation.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with all staff members.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required including the up coming festive period.
