Job Details
1. The purpose of this role is to work in youth work teams to with young people aged 11 – 18 years, in their own communities. This can be in a community centre, local park or school.
2. The youth work teams will support young people to undertake local project work of community benefit and assist young people participating in youth work programmes to undertake personal development activities.
3. Youth Workers support young people on an individual and group basis to realise their potential and to overcome the many challenges and barriers that young people face in life,
4. Build their self-esteem and self-confidence,
5. Consider risk, make reasoned choices and take control of their own lives,
6. Develop a ‘world view’ which widens horizons and invites social commitment,
7. Build the capacity of young people through the acquisition of knowledge and the development of skills
The Person
8. Good organisational skills
9. Good time-keeper and reliable and prepared to work flexibly (Deliver results - See ‘How We Work Matters’ Framework)
10. Experience of youth work and planning and developing learning and education programmes with young people
11. SVQ2 or SVQ3 Youth Work / PDA Youth Work
12. Ability to motivate young people and encourage participation · Ability to handle challenging situations confidently
