The role
Contracts Manager – Fit-Out / Interiors (Joinery Focus)
Preston (Office-Based)
£50,000–£60,000 + Company Van + Package
Permanent / Temp to Perm
I’m working with a well-established interior refurbishment contractor based in Preston, and they’re looking to bring in an experienced Contracts Manager to take ownership of their project delivery function.
They’re a close-knit team with a strong pipeline of work across the education and commercial sectors, and this is a key hire for the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on role, suited to someone who understands how projects are delivered on-site, not just on paper.
You’ll be responsible for overseeing multiple refurbishment projects at once, managing everything from initial planning through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing multiple projects across the North West (from South Birmingham up to Cumbria)
Planning and sequencing works, ensuring projects are delivered on time
Coordinating subcontractors and internal teams across multiple sites
Acting as the main point of contact for both site teams and clients
Attending site to check quality, progress and H&S compliance
Measuring, planning and ordering fitted furniture (a core part of their work)
Supporting junior PMs during busy periodsWhat They’re Looking For
They want someone who’s been there and done it, someone who can walk onto site and immediately know what’s right and what isn’t.
Background “on the tools” – ideally joinery, but other trades considered
Experience within fit-out / refurbishment projects
Strong experience measuring and planning kitchen or fitted furniture installs
Comfortable managing multiple jobs at once
SMSTS or SSSTS + CSCS card
Confident using Excel / programming software (or similar)
Full UK driving licenceMost importantly, they want someone practical who understands how to get jobs delivered, not just managed.
What You’ll Get
£50,000–£60,000 salary
Company van + fuel (business use + commute)
23 days holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
Monday–Friday role (no weekend work)
Supportive, down-to-earth team environment
Modern office with good motorway accessWhy It’s Worth a Look
This isn’t a corporate environment where you’re just another number. You’ll have real visibility of projects, direct involvement in delivery, and a genuine impact on how jobs run.
They move quickly, expect a lot, but give you the autonomy to do your job properly.
